I’ve never talked to a therapist. I’m used to handling concerns on my own. Aren’t people who go to therapy needy or weak?

Actually, people who contact therapists know that they need assistance and have tremendous courage in taking the necessary steps.  The truth is everyone needs help and guidance now and then in life.  It is important to note that reaching out and seeing a therapist for the first time can create uneasy feelings which are normal and natural.   We will work together to address these uncomfortable feelings, build rapport, and establish trust.

How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

Since each person has his/her/their own unique issues and goals for counseling, it will be different depending on the individual.  The therapeutic approach is tailored to meet your specific needs.  We’ll work together in helping you to identify your values, goals, and, help you to explore your strengths; Learning ways to utilize them in order to reduce the problems you are facing.  During each session, we will set an agenda together to address your needs and to make the most of our time together.  You will practice skills taught between sessions in order to incorporate them into your daily life and move towards change and growth.

How Long Will It Take?
Evidenced-based counseling practices along with other therapeutic techniques are utilized. The services are generally short-term, goal-oriented, and often between 12-24 sessions. Our work together is both supportive and skill-based, providing tools to help you to reach your goals.

It’s wonderful that you are so dedicated to getting the most out of therapy.  Your active participation and dedication will be crucial to your success.

What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, check, or Zelle is accepted.  Payment is expected at the time of service.  Insurance is NOT accepted however, it’s highly recommended that you contact your insurance company and ask whether you have out-of-network services.  The necessary documentation for reimbursement from your insurance company will be supplied to you.
What is the process for setting up an appointment?
A brief phone consultation at no charge to see if we’re a good fit, and to answer any questions about the services offered.  At that time, we will schedule a follow-up 1-hour consultation. During the consultation, you will have the opportunity to review information about yourself and/or your child and discuss treatment options. Initial treatment recommendations are made and a therapy schedule is set up. Therapy sessions are generally on weekly basis for 45 minutes. However, therapy can be adapted to meet each individual’s needs.
Where are you located?
475 White Plains Road, Suite 27, Eastchester, NY 10709.  There is free parking in the lot behind the building or metered parking across the street.  

A HIPPA-compliant telehealth platform is also available.

What is this?

Therapy animals are personal pets that are trained and certified by their owners.  The owners and the therapy animal work together as a team to provide comfort and stress relief to others in a variety of different situations.  

Animal-assisted therapy can help to provide improvements in both physical and mental health.
